The End of Autumn
Blurb:To keep from paying child support for his three
children, Rodney Williams, plots with his parents to kidnap his estranged wife,
25-year old Autumn, in broad daylight. This 2011 crime shocked the small
community of Logan, Ohio.
Excerpt: Even those unfamiliar with
Autumn wished for her safe return by starting a “Help Find Autumn” Facebook
page. Its purpose was to make people aware of Autumn’s disappearance. News of
the disappearance even made nationally known “Nancy Grace” take notice.
According to Nancy Grace, she was appalled by the abduction, and broadcast the
disappearance twice. A big break in the case came on March 28, when an SEORJ
inmate told Logan police that Fred Williams’ confessed to him that police would
never find Autumn’s body as long as “Rodney and Lola kept quiet.” However,
staying quiet was not easy for Lola. On the afternoon of March 29, Fred
received a letter from her stating she was going to make a full confession.
After reading the letter and according to jail I hadn't helped my son out.
We’re all dead now.” According to Deputy Sam Reed, he conducted the 35-minuteinterview
with Lola in the presence of Lola’s court-appointed attorney Paul Smith and Assistant
Prosecutor Ralph Miles. Deputy Reed later wrote in his report that he believed
Lola was90% truthful in her confession. He claimed that she seemed to remember
the small details of the crime and was vague about the large details, or made
contradictory statements, such as who had forced Autumn into the Crown Victoria,
and who drove the car. Reed said he also felt Lola was trying to minimize the
extent of her husband's involvement. She initially said that Rodney was the
only person forcing Autumn into the car, but that did not coincide with witness
reports.
